Hemp

From the Cannabaceae family, hemp is a fabulous plant with a thousand virtues, and ecological culture (it grows easily and without needing a lot of water). Cannabis sativa

It is one of the varieties of hemp. Our cannabis sativa from biological quality is grown in Britain. Cannabis sativa has a THC content (psychotropic molecule) that does not exceed 0,2%, unlike cannabis indica for example, which contains between 5 and 20%. We find on average around from 5 to 10% CBD in cannabis sativa.

Hemp vegetable oil

Hemp oil is obtained by seed cold pressing of the plant. Selected by HO KARAN, it comes from organic cultivation located in the heart of Brittany. Its composition reveals an optimal ratio between the two polyunsaturated fatty acids essential to the human body - it has three Omega 6 (Ω6) for one Omega 3 (Ω3). These polyunsaturated fatty acids are better for health in general, and especially for the skin.

cannabinoids

More than a hundred (phyto)cannabinoids are produced in the cannabis plant (THC, CBD, CBG, CBN, etc.). These molecules act on certain cells in the body, activating cannabinoid receptors that we have in our body and our brain. Their effects can be analgesics, anti-inflammatories, antiseptics, anxiolytics… We talk a lot about CBD but other cannabinoids from hemp are also interesting for the body. In particular the CBG found in our Libertine Oil for its anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxing benefits.

CBD = Cannabidiol

It is the main phytocannabinoid produced by cannabis fiber. Like THC, CBD is produced from CBG, but it uses a different enzymatic reaction. CBD has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects for a wide range of symptoms and diseases (acne, insomnia, stress, chronic pain, etc.). A 2011** study tested the action of CBD orally, in order to observe its potential against social anxiety. As a result, patients have the same score as healthy people, thanks to theeffectiveness of CBD on anxiety.

CBD 5%

We have chosen from Broad-spectrum CBD 5% for our Antidote 5%, serum in & out, because it is the natural concentration of cannabinoids in the flower of cannabis (European variety). This CBD oil promotes internal and cutaneous well-being. It calms and de-stresses your body and mind, while regenerating your skin.

CBD 10%

We have developed with our expert extractor, a 5% broad spectrum CBD, which we concentrate twice to obtain 2%, in our Absolute Antidote 10%. Our Broad-spectrum CBD 10% is produced by concentrating cannabinoids and terpenes, without having to add isolate or reconstitute the terpene profile. So, as we are all different, and some have a more resistant endocannabinoid system than others, we have designed the Absolute 10% to meet your request and your needs. For a daily life twice as peaceful: pain, anxiety, sleep, skin problems...

CBG = Cannabigerol

CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid produced by the cannabis plant. It is the precursor for the production of THC and CBD. CBG has effects similar to CBD, such as a analgesic power, and it seems to have antiseptic, antibiotic and anti-tumor properties.

CBN = Cannabinol

Less well known than CBD and CBG, CBN is not directly produced by the hemp plant, but comes from the oxidation of THC when it decomposes. He possesses of powerful sedative effects.

THC = Tetrahydrocannabinol

It is the main molecule activates cannabis. Known for his psychotropic effects and researched in recreational cannabis, it acts on the brain and organs. It is illegal in France above 0,3%. In all our Ho Karan products, it does not exceed a concentration of 0,2%.

Endocannabinoid system

It is a set of receptors (CB1 and CB2) present throughout the human body, which react to cannabinoids (THC, CBD, …). the endocannabinoid system plays an important role in the regulation of temperature, pain, inflammation, appetite… CB1 receptors act mainly on the nervous system while CB2 receptors are expressed mainly in the cells of the immune system.

Surround effect*

Unity is strength ! In other words, the entourage effect is the way in which the different molecules of hemp interact to create synergies. They have much more powerful effects when used together rather than separately.

Broad spectrum = Broad Spectrum

This is the method used for the extraction of CBD which is found in our range of CBD products. He is extracted with other molecules present in the hemp flower - cannabinoids (including THC, illegal in France above 0,3%, that we withdraw then), terpenes and flavonoids in particular. Thanks to this broad spectrum extraction method, our CBD benefits from the entourage effect other substances. That is to say, they come to act in synergy to make it even naturally more effective. Full Spectrum = Full Spectrum

This is the same CBD extraction process as Broad Spectrum, but without the THC removal step. Products containing full spectrum are currently prohibited in France.

Hemp essential oil

Hemp essential oil is obtained by hydrodistillation of the floral tops (= flowers, leaves and stems). It is volatile and contains more than two hundred terpenes, responsible for the smell of the cannabis plant and its effects. Our hemp essential oil is French and of organic quality. It is difficult to find because there is still little demand due to the lack of knowledge of this product on its lack of narcotic effect. However, it has many benefits: decongestant, purifying, relaxing… Moreover, an Italian study from 2018*** looked at the sedative and analgesic actions terpenes. After inhaling hemp essential oil for 5 minutes, test subjects reported feeling “calm, relaxed, energized, in a good mood”, and with headache relief for those suffering from it.

terpenes

These are the fragrant molecules contained in hemp essential oil, with antibacterial and soothing properties. They are therefore found in particular in the natural fragrances that make up our products, as well as in our Detox range (Life in Green, purifying interior mist, the Natural Detox Deodorant purifying…).

Flavonoids

These are phytonutrients found in many plants, including hemp. Their role is essential in the entourage effect to make cannabinoids more effective. They help the development of the plant and are also responsible for its color, protect it from parasites, filter UV rays... One of the best known is cannaflavin, which we use in our treatments for its superpower antioxidant.

Cannaflavins

These are flavonoids found only in the hemp plant, antioxidant properties. They are found in particular associated with vitamin C in our Cannabooster Energy, radiance serum, for its healthy glow and anti-dark spot benefits. Also, in our Morning miracle, natural eye contour, it's a combo anti-fatigue effective in reducing puffiness, dark circles and fine lines.

isolate

CBD isolate comes from an extraction of Pure CBD (isolated, as its name suggests, from other molecules including cannabinoids). We use it at HO KARAN for products in topical application, for its formulation simplicity. Also, there is still little scientific hindsight on its effectiveness on the skin as convincing as orally.

Bioavailable

Bioavailability indicates the proportion of a molecule actually absorbed and used by the body via the bloodstream, as well as its rate of assimilation by the body. With regard to the bioavailability of CBD, for example, it is the percentage of CBD that one has consumed and that has actually reached the body, in order to be able to be as effective as possible. The percentage of CBD bioavailability depends on the mode of consumption by which it is administered (oral, sublingual, cutaneous route, etc.).
